That’s the implication of a new study that says Americans are burning nearly 1 billion more gallons of gasoline each year than they did in 1960 because of their expanding waistlines. Simply put, more weight in the car means lower gas mileage.
Using recent gas prices of $2.20 a gallon, that translates to about $2.2 billion more spent on gas each year.
“The bottom line is that our hunger for food and our hunger for oil are not independent. There is a relationship between the two,'’ said University of Illinois researcher Sheldon Jacobson, a study co-author.

The ad makes it appear that McCaskill’s opponent Senetor Jim Talent opposes all kinds of stem cell research, when in fact he has voted in favor of spending millions for adult stem cell research - the only kind that has ever cured a single patient.
Now it appears that embryonic stem cells cause tumors in rats that grow uncontrollably. Adult stem cells have not had the same problems and have been used successfully to treat dozens of diseases and conditions. But scientists have said they don’t think embryonic stem cell research will lead to a cure for Parkinson’s. I think the man upstairs is telling us something, perhaps he’s not so hot on us dicing up babies to find a cure for disease?
Remember, Liberals are two-faced scoundrels and they will do anything to preserve abortion, it is the cornerstone of their religion - Liberalism and Poltical Correctness. The more walls they put up in the way of proving that you don’t need embryonic cells or that prevent a parent from being notified that their daughter has been taken to have an abortion, the more walls that have to be taken down to ban abortion. It’s not about the cure for diseases like Fox’s. He’s just a dupe.

The clash will put Muslim athletes at a disadvantage as they will be expected to fast from sunrise to sunset for the entire duration of the Games.
In 2012, Ramadan will take place from July 21 to August 20, while the Olympics run from July 27 to August 12.
The British Olympic Association is now planning a meeting with the organisers of London 2012 to discuss how the timing will affect UK Muslim athletes.
And Muslim countries such as Turkey are calling for the date to be changed.
Togay Bayalti, president of the National Olympic Committee of Turkey, said: “This will be difficult for Muslim athletes.
“They don’t have to observe Ramadan if they are doing sport and travelling but they will have to decide whether it is important to them.

(from Assist New Service) - On the evening of Monday 9 October, Kaihana Hussain, the teenage daughter of Muslim immigrants, told her parents that she was converting from Islam to Christianity. Her father responded with unrestrained fury. Neighbours heard “blood curdling” and “terrifying” screams and cries of “Help me, help me, they’re trying to kill me”, but they were unsure which apartment the screams were coming from, and the voices were unfamiliar.
What police found when they entered the apartment was Yasmin bleeding severely from a fatal knife wound to the chest, and her husband, Kaihana’s father, Dr Muhammad Hussain (49) also bleeding from a potentially fatal knife wound to the chest. Blood was splattered on walls, floors and doorways throughout the three-bedroom luxury apartment. Yasmin died at the scene and Dr Hussain is presently hospitalised in an induced coma, in a critical condition. Police have confirmed that Kaihana is not a suspect in their deaths.
“‘From what we understand the daughter decided to tell her father of her radical plan to convert to Christianity which, in the eyes of most Muslims, is totally unacceptable and to be honest, sadly, many would react as he has done,’ said the source.
