Back to “normal” after 200,000 years?! What makes this “scientist” think THIS isn’t “normal”?

“I think an awful lot of people will die but I don’t see the human species dying out.

“I would think a hot earth could not support much over 500 million.”

He warned there are no simple solutions to global heating and there is nothing we can do now to “save the earth.”

“People will try to do things but the way to really look at them is they are a bit like when your kidneys fail you can on dialysis - and who would refuse dialysis if death is the alternative?” he said.

“But we have to remember that all they are doing is buying us time. The problems will go on.

“Trying to take the job on of regulating the earth is about as crazy as you can get.

Jackie Vergerio, PETA’s captive animals in entertainment specialist, said her organization tracks churches nationwide that use real animals in “living nativity scenes.”

“Those animals are subject to all sorts of terrible fates in some cases,” Vergerio said. “Animals have been stolen and slaughtered, they’ve been raped, they’ve escaped from the nativity scenes and have been struck by cars and killed. Just really unfathomable things have happened to them.”

Problem is the church has NEVER used real animals in thier nativity scenes. Seems that the only “living” items are people. Of course that ruins all the fun of harrassing people with PETA’s pre-conceived ideals of animal worship. Sure, something could happen but some little busybody sitting at a computer making a list of churches to harrass is worse.

Still waiting for an apology from PETA. Go ahead, now tell me of all the good work they do otherwise…

(CBS/AP) SAN FRANCISCO (where else?) - Two peace activists have planned a massive anti-war demonstration for the first day of winter.

But they don’t want you marching in the streets. They’d much rather you just stay home.

The Global Orgasm for Peace was conceived by Donna Sheehan, 76, and Paul Reffell, 55, whose immodest goal is for everyone in the world to have an orgasm Dec. 22 while focusing on world peace.”The orgasm gives out an incredible feeling of peace during it and after it,” Reffell said Sunday. “Your mind is like a blank. It’s like a meditative state. And mass meditations have been shown to make a change.”

The couple are no strangers to sex and social activism. Sheehan, no relation to anti-war activist Cindy Sheehan, brought together nearly 50 women in 2002 who stripped naked and spelled out the word “Peace.”

(Reuters) - A Nevada town passed a law this week making it illegal to fly a foreign nation’s flag by itself, the latest swipe by a U.S. community at illegal immigrants.

The town council of Pahrump, which lies in the Mojave Desert west of Las Vegas, voted 3-2 on Tuesday to make flying any foreign flag above the U.S. flag or alone an offense punishable by a $50 fine and 30 hours’ community service.

The question is, who are the two that voted against it?

Supporters said they passed the measure to hit back at Hispanic demonstrators who carried Mexican flags when they marched in U.S. cities earlier this year to press for rights for 10 million to 12 million illegal immigrants living in the shadows.

“All of the illegal alien protesters are waving Mexican flags, and we just got tired of it,” town board clerk Paul Willis told Reuters in a telephone interview.

“This is the United States, and the Stars and Stripes should fly supreme,” he added.

Nairobi, Kenya – A new United Nations children’s book promoting fears of catastrophic manmade global warming is being promoted at the UN Climate Change Conference in Kenya. The book’s main character, a young boy, is featured getting so worried about a coming manmade climate disaster that he yells “I don’t want to hear anymore!” The new children’s book, entitled “Tore and the Town on Thin Ice” ((http://www.unep.org/PDF/TORE.pdf)) is published by the United Nations Environment Programme and blames “rich countries” for creating a climate catastrophe and urges children to join environmental groups.

The book is about a young boy named Tore who lives in an Arctic village. Tore loses a dog sled race because he crashes through the thinning ice allegedly caused by manmade greenhouse gas emissions. The book features colorful drawings and large text to appeal to young children.

After the boy loses the dog sled race, he is visited by “Sedna, the Mother of the Sea” in a dream. The “Sea Mother” Goddess informs Tore in blunt terms that the thinning ice that caused his loss in the dog sled race was due to manmade global warming.

“I’m the one who created and cares for the sea creatures – whales and walruses, seals and fish,” the “Sea Mother” explains to Tore. The “Sea Mother” then tells the boy she will educate him about the reason the ice is thinning.

(UPI) - WASHINGTON, Nov. 13 (UPI) — The incoming U.S. Congress will review the law mandating 700 miles of fence along the U.S.-Mexico border, and may seek to scrap the plan altogether.

Rep. Bennie Thompson, D-Miss., told reporters this week that he expected to “re-visit” the issue when he becomes chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee in the 110th Congress, which has a Democratic Party majority.

He said that the high technology Secure Border Initiative, or SBI Net — essentially a set of monitors, cameras and other integrated surveillance systems to monitor the border — was a viable alternative.

“We might do away with it, or look at (integrating it into) SBI Net,” he said, “A virtual fence rather than a real one.”

Like Virtual Security, everyone thinks it will be there because they have paid into it. Yeah, sure, you betcha!

Madonna went on to once again defend her controversial adoption of David.

“I saved this child from certain death, there is nothing more important in my eyes than that. I love David like a son.

Certain death? Why is she building children’s clinic centers and instructing the naive Malawis in the finer points of Kabbalah if they’re all going to die? Watch out, I have a feeling she is going to Rawanda next, trying to get a complete set of all the indigenous peoples…now she can stick the little guy with her other bio kids watched for days at a time no doubt by a nanny somewhere.

Christians have long argued that life should preserved at all costs - but a bishop representing the national church has now sparked controversy by arguing that there are occasions when it is compassionate to leave a severely disabled child to die.

Because of what’s happening here and here and what could happen over here, I’m glad these people are in charge now. I mean, I’m sure they’re going to eventually handle this problem here and in two years we’ll get this person to lead us all off of the cliff, happily piping away.

Israel reiterated that the flights were needed to monitor Lebanese compliance with UN demands.

I’ve been told that french troops on the ground were so startled by the incident that they scorched a souffle that was in the process of being prepared for Hezbollah leaders when they had to abandon their posts and take cover.

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Student leaders at a California college have touched off a furor by banning the Pledge of Allegiance at their meetings, saying they see no reason to publicly swear loyalty to God and the U.S. government.

The move by Orange Coast College student trustees, the latest clash over patriotism and religion in American schools, has infuriated some of their classmates — prompting one young woman to loudly recite the pledge in front of the board on Wednesday night in defiance of the rule.

“America is the one thing I’m passionate about and I can’t let them take that away from me,” 18-year-old political science major Christine Zoldos told Reuters.

Well, there is at least one more patriot left in this country…

“That (’under God’) part is sort of offensive to me,” student trustee Jason Bell, who proposed the ban, told Reuters. “I am an atheist and a socialist, and if you know your history, you know that ‘under God’ was inserted during the McCarthy era and was directly designed to destroy my ideology.”

That’s because your “ideology” is wrong and killed millions of people. Pampered little rich kids that have too much time on their hands and have never been out of the country nurture this kind of philosophy. Presented to them in a romantic light in the first place by some commie professor no doubt. Get the Hell out of my country then and go live in France.

(nypost.com) - A 19-year-old construction worker flipped out, hitting and strangling indie actress Adrienne Shelly with a bed sheet because she dared to call him a “son of a bitch,” police sources said yesterday.

Ecuadorian illegal immigrant (read ILLEGAL ALIEN) Diego Pillco told cops he took that insult literally and became enraged during a confrontation with the pint-sized actress last week over noise he was making in the apartment below her Greenwich Village office, sources said.

Police also revealed that Shelly, 40, desperately tried to fight off the baby-faced worker during the attack, leaving scratch marks on his face.

“She didn’t go easily,” said a law-enforcement source.

State University students and a 16-year-old outside Sanford last month is in the United States illegally and may be prosecuted for carrying fraudulent identification, an immigration official said.Pastor Rios Sanchez, 55, is being held in the Lee County jail on $75,000 bail and a 48-hour immigration detainer after being charged with three counts of involuntary manslaughter and other offenses related to the head-on collision Oct. 27, according to law enforcement.

What the…? 75k bail?! Outrageous!

ICE placed an immigration detainer on Sanchez so that if he posts bond or otherwise faces release, immigration officials would have 48 hours, excluding weekends and holidays, to decide whether to take him into federal custody and start immigration proceedings.

But if Sanchez were taken into immigration’s custody now, he could be deported within a month, O’Connell said. Prosecution of state charges against Sanchez could take many months.

Deported? Stick his ass in jail! Why do these damn illegals get a get out of jail free card when they have KILLED someone or commited some other crime? Send ‘em back AFTER they serve their sentance.
