• To stop combat climate change the world-wide average needs to be reduced to about 2,000kg per year.

To do this isn’t easy, but to start with you should:

1. Buy your electricity from a renewable energy supplier

2. Reduce the number of flights you take

3. Car share or use public transport more

4. Use less energy at home and at work.

 

Actually, I turned out to be better than I suspected since it didn’t measure my obscene habit of car collecting pre-smog muscle cars. So, in celebration I will mow my grass and have the block over for a BBQ this weekend. There still remains one question: When I go to the store - paper or plastic?

SAN DIEGO (AP) - Two executives at a company that once helped build a fence to keep illegal immigrants from crossing the Mexican border were sentenced Wednesday to six months of home confinement for hiring undocumented workers.

Mel Kay, founder, chairman and president of Golden State Fence Co., and manager Michael McLaughlin had pleaded guilty in federal court to knowingly hiring illegal aliens. U.S. District Judge Barry Ted Moskowitz ordered each to serve 1,040 hours of community service and spend three years on probation.

Kay, 64, was fined $200,000 as part of a plea agreement, and McLaughlin agreed to pay $100,000.

Federal prosecutors took the rare step of seeking prison time after the men acknowledged hiring at least 10 illegal immigrants in 2004 and 2005. The charges carried a maximum possible penalty of five years in prison…

It takes soooo long to prosecute these cases IF they ever get to court. This is why I am skeptical on prosecutions. Build the damned fence (without Illegals helping) and THAT will really make an impact.

Things got more heated in Lafayette, where an evening vigil to remember war dead attracted at least 350 war protesters and supporters who verbally sparred at the hillside of crosses that has become a symbol for the country’s divided views.

Both sides tried to drown the other out, with supporters of the Iraq mission hollering “Shame on you” and protesters countering with “Shame on Bush.”

“Thank God for those men and women who are willing to put it on the line,” said Lafayette resident Charles Haig to cross supporters. Haig’s son, David, is serving in Iraq.

Cross organizer Jeff Heaton, who stepped up to a microphone amid shouts of “traitor,” said soldiers’ deaths “will not be in vain if we see to it that their deaths and injuries inspire us to change the course of history.”

Jeff Heaton is a TRAITOR. He organized this “monument” “Art Form” or whatever the hell it is, the name and purpose seems to change everytime an associate Liberal is interviewed. Mostly to keep the heat off. These scum-sucking Libs are opportunists, I mean think of it; Liberals here are ERECTING crosses when they spend most of their waking moments trying the get a cross taken down via the ACLU or some court action. They are also all sensitive and concerned about the troops and bringing them home alive. Like hell! If sensitivity for the troops gets them sypathizers then they will do it - with clenched teeth no doubt. They also get articulate, clean and bright (like Obama) speakers from MoveOn.org such as they had last night speaking. For the most part the radicals that make up that group are not the well spoken articulate person that I heard at one time last night from MoveOn. He’s a front person.

Look, even the extreme left knows how to play the media and try to shift public opinion. The ONLY reason they are doing this is to get attention. Just like putting the names on the crosses. They know it will inflame and draw attention to their cause, they leave them up there until the heat is too great and public opinion sees them as cold-hearted and insensitive to the service families. Now they’re taking them down (except for the handful of families who are on their side). The flags are another thing as well as the hym-singing. They’ll do that in front of the cameras then light up a bowl full of dope in private. It’s not that amazing that they know the words since they were most probably raised in a good home and have just never stopped rebelling and grown up.

They’re ignorant of the dangers of Muslim radicalism and they’re willing to take the chance that everyone will just get along if we talk long enough with them. I, for one am not willing to take that chance for my family or my country.

If you live in the San Fransicko Bay Area you may care to know of an anti-war rally organized by a collection of pacifist-socialists groups to be held in downtown Walnut Creek, CA. ( map )

There is a growing group of counter-demonstartors that will be showing support for the war and our Troops at this event. Feel free to bring or wear anything that will show an opposing viewpoint and contribute to helping shout down these enemies of America. These commie bastards are part of the Mt. Diablo Peace and Justice Center associated with the likes of CodePink, Grandmothers for Peace and Gaia University Network and Praxis Peace Institute .

Some of these same groups will also be at the Lafayette Crosses on Monday, March 19th 2007 at 6 p.m.. Counter-protesting will also be taking place at this event to show outage and disgust and local media and TV stations will be there. This group has created a mock cemetary for their own political purposes on private land near the Lafayette BART station which is easily visible from the Highway 24 freeway. They have recently taken to putting names on the crosses of fallen service men and women and relatives of these heroes are seriously offended. Groups countering these people are Blue Star Moms, listeners of KSFO Radio, MoveAmericaForward.org, The Lafayette Flag Brigade.

Please try to attend one or both of these events and make it known that Real Americans won’t take these actions lying down!

Vietnam (AP) - Angelina Jolie left an orphanage in southern Vietnam on Thursday with a 3-year-old boy that Vietnamese officials have said she planned to adopt.

The actress, who arrived in Ho Chi Minh City on Wednesday night, carried the boy from the Tam Binh orphanage to a waiting Toyota four-wheel drive.

Brad Pitt, Jolie’s “partner”, did not accompany her to Vietnam, no doubt he’s busy scouting other impoverished areas for potential adoptable kids…

They have three children: Maddox, adopted from Cambodia; 2-year-old Zahara, adopted from Ethiopia; and another daughter, Shiloh, who was born to the couple in May.

Well, I score it she’s up two on Madonna, we’ll keep our eye on her next. My guess is Jolie will grab another from Africa and then back to South-East Asia until she has a complete set from those two parts of the world…anyone’s guess as to where she goes after that.

At the same time, tens of millions of others will be flooded out of their homes each year as the Earth reels from rising temperatures and sea levels, according to portions of a draft of an international scientific report obtained by The Associated Press.

Really, lefties are you listening? If you want people to even think for a moment that tens of millions of people A YEAR are going to be affected by rising ocean levels you’ve got to do a better job selling it, like make a movie. Ooops, that’s right you did. And people are still not buying it, well keep shouting. Maybe a little louder will do, and write an official-looking report about the polar bears dying and such.

Some of the scary warnings…

The report included these likely results of global warming:

_Hundreds of millions of Africans and tens of millions of Latin Americans who now have water will be short of it in less than 20 years. By 2050, more than 1 billion people in Asia could face water shortages. By 2080, water shortages could threaten 1.1 billion to 3.2 billion people, depending on the level of greenhouse gases that cars and industry spew into the air.

_Death rates for the world’s poor from global warming-related illnesses, such as malnutrition and diarrhea, will rise by 2030. Malaria and dengue fever, as well as illnesses from eating contaminated shellfish, are likely to grow.

_Europe’s small glaciers will disappear with many of the continent’s large glaciers shrinking dramatically by 2050. And half of Europe’s plant species could be vulnerable, endangered or extinct by 2100.

_By 2080, between 200 million and 600 million people could be hungry because of global warming’s effects.

_About 100 million people each year could be flooded by 2080 by rising seas.
_Smog in U.S. cities will worsen and “ozone-related deaths from climate (will) increase by approximately 4.5 percent for the mid-2050s, compared with 1990s levels,” turning a small health risk into a substantial one.

_Polar bears in the wild and other animals will be pushed to extinction.
