Schwarzenegger: Turn Off Spanish TV
As if this is ever going to happen…
Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger told a gathering of Hispanic journalists that immigrants should avoid Spanish-language media if they want to learn English quickly.
What do you expect with the large illegal population? Do you really think they came here to melt with the culture?
Schwarzenegger also lauded President Bush’s push for immigration reform, saying the country has its first opportunity for change in decades.
Another sell out by a “Republican”, Arnold is holding the paddles for the jolt to keep this amnesty bill alive.
Yeah, sure, you betcha.

I’m Hispanic myself, and I don’t find Arnold’s comments offensive one bit. All he was saying was find some time to watch English tv to learn English. For some reason the Latino Media continues to send a message to Latino immigrants that making them learn English is an attempt to make them white. Since when did learning English ever been seen that way? I believe that every latino should be required to learn English NOT TO MAKE THEM WHITE but to survive in the workforce, it is the official language of this country, and not everyone speaks Spanish, if a person only speaks English at work, or with non-spanish speaking friends. but only speaks Spanish at home, or watches only Spanish tv, that’s thier business.

Same here. My mother is half hispanic and my great aunts and uncles are hispanic as well. And even though most of them are liberals they hate illegal immigrants. How come my family who strated out with nothing and worked hard to get where there at today have to pay with there tax dollars for this illegals who aren’t welling to work, become legal citzen or learn to speak english!?! English sould become Americas national langue like you said Micheal to surive the work place. In order for these people to become successfull and productive people in America as well as help the next generation prosper they most learn to speak English. Americans should be the ones to learn other langue just because these people can’t speak English.:???:

Let’s see… Arnold is the son of a Nazi that get’s into bed with a democrat everynight. Are we supposed to change our constitution to allow him to run for president, or what? I’m confused…. are drugs bad now or are they OK because Rush is on them?

No I don’t know spanish very well.
But my great aunt and uncles speak spanish fluenlty and my mom speaks some spanish. I hope to learn spanish next school year though.
